New Brighton won the toss and elected to bat first in search of full 25 points in what is expected to be two teams ending the season at the top end of the table. New Brighton made 141 all out off 43.3 overs. The top order struggled to make decent contributions leaving the bulk of the work to the middle to lower order to get up to a competitive total. Rosith Fernando making his second team debut coming in at six posted a good 31 before being given out lbw and his partner at seven Tom Anders scored 38 to follow up his previous week's good batting display. Number eight and nine Simeon Shiff and Sam Cureton scored 14 and 11 respectively, but an ultimate total of 141 was felt to be below par and a good bowling display and early wickets would be required in the second half for New Brighton to achieve victory.
Wigan's innings got off to the best possible start with the opening pair putting on 103 for the first wicket with Patrick fairhurst scoring 74 and Stephen power 24. Numbers three and four then seen the game home for the hosts giving them on the whole a commanding victory.
New Brighton will be seeking a better performance when Wigan come to Rake Lane later in the season.
