Lindow ( A ) 2023 - The mouth is back
On a glorious Sunday afternoon New Brighton travelled to Lindow in the Cheshire cup.
Players arrived and out for the warm up they go, Soon after Adam Neal went over for the toss in which he won the toss and elected to bat on what can only be described ( A Road ). Seb Botes and Adam Neal wonder out to bat and begin what is about to be an onslaught of 4’s and 6’s to the u9’s boundary. Adam Neal began in typical Adam Neal fashion trying to whack it out the ground and that is exactly what he did, hitting 3 sixes out of the 8 balls he faced… eventually falling for 18 runs of 8 balls. First wicket goes and New Brighton are 25/1. Next into bat is Owais Shah, this was the beginning of the destructive innings which was about to commence for New Brighton. Owais picking the gaps while Seb is clearing houses, let’s remember though it is an u9’s boundary.
Next comes a bizarre piece of cricket with Seb Botes flicking one to square leg on 46 to only be dropped and then the fielder threw it for 4 over throws. Seb and Owais keep it ticking over nicely reaching a partnership 134 runs… Owais fell for 65 runs which came off 66 balls. Out strolls Dan Cooke, Cooke didn’t take much time to get going hitting 4’s and 6’s left right and centre. At this point Seb was at the other end playing a glorious innings picking apart the bowling attack. Cooke fell for 39 runs.. with New Brighton 221/3. Suliman Safi coming and going for a quick 32 runs. During their partnerships Seb Botes brought up his 100-run milestone. Lindow beginning to pick up wickets with New Brighton pushing for a big score. New Brighton finishes their innings on 305 all over. Seb Botes playing an amazing innings leaving himself on 127 not out off 100 balls (11 x 4’s and 5 x 6’s) WELL BATTED SEB.
New Brighton come out to start the second innings with Oliver and Danny Hamm opening to bowling. Lindow batsmen didn’t hang around and started to play shots early doors picking the short boundary to aim for. New Brighton get the breakthrough with Lindow now 81/1. The lads dug in and good bowling from them kept Lindow on their toes chasing a big total. Sunny came onto bowl picking up 2 vital wickets for New Brighton leaving the hosts 179/3.
The next moment of the game came from Oliver with an excellent over for New Brighton. Firstly, removing Lindow Opener James Duffy for 106. Two balls later Suliman Safi firing one to Adam Neal for a run out… Next ball BANG SEE YAAA Oliver Griffiths cleans up Lindow no7 batsmen first ball. Unbelievable over from Oliver to put New Brighton in the driving seat. Leaving Lindow 228/6 which plenty of work from the batsmen required. New Brighton bowlers beginning to pick up wickets while Lindow pushing to chase down 305 set by New Brighton. New Brighton eventually bowling Lindow out for 273 in 38.4 overs.
